Andy and I went to “The Pit” (the bottom of the Rec Center at Muskingum) to play some basketball tonight after work. It was a lot of fun. We played three games of 21 with him winning the first and me winning the following two. The gym is the oldest on campus if I’m not mistaken and we expected it to be in much worse shape. While it doesn’t look pretty, it’s actually quite good. I’m sure that will be a near daily routine this summer.

The Cavs evened up the series with the Pistons last night as I predicted. Everyone seemed so eager to give up when they were down 2-0, but I knew that after two very close games in Detroit, Cleveland would pull them out at home. Hopefully they will continue their winning ways and move on to the finals.

Kobe Bryant needs to make up his mind about whether he wants to stay with the Lakers or not. This afternoon he admitted that he would like to be traded and that was the “conclusion” that he had come to. But hours later, he states that he doesn’t want to go anywhere and that it’s his team. Now I don’t have too much of a problem with him asking to be traded; however, if you’re going to state publicly that that’s what you want, don’t go back on it hours later. All he did was create more drama for the Lakers and take more focus away from actual basketball. Kobe himself discussed rebuilding trust with the organization. How could one trust him as a sincere teammate after what he’s said today? Would you want to rely on him knowing that “well, he might not care to be here today.” Perhaps they will move on and become better because of it. Time will tell.

The Ducks took a 1-0 series lead over Ottawa the other night in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. If the Ducks can stay out of the penalty box, I think they can blow this series open.

Time to finish up my presentation on planetary rings for tomorrows final day of Astronomy class. We each have to give a 10 minute PowerPoint presentation tomorrow and take the final exam on Friday. Shouldn’t be too bad since I’ve done rather well on all of the exams. I’m not worried. At all.

High School graduate Azia Kim managed to eat, sleep, and basically live the life of a normal college student at Stanford University for the last 8 months. The problem? SHE WASN’T EVEN A STUDENT! Somehow this girl outsmarted the entire university by sneaking in through windows to sleep at night, sneaking into dining halls to eat, and keeping up with classes she wasn’t even enrolled in to appear a hard working student. Apparently it’s not yet known why she did what she did, but I have to say, it’s scary. After what happened at Virginia Tech, how can one live on a campus for 8 months without being noticed. This brings up the question as to how many other people are out there doing the same thing. It’s like a whole new version of Wedding Crashers. Go to a university to live for a few months, leach off of everything there, silently move out, and move on to another.

Anyway, the Indy 500 turned out to be a disappointment. With Marco Andretti in 2nd place when the race was suspended for the first time, I had hope that he may walk out with a victory. I guess after his crash later on in the race he should be happy to walk out at all.

Stanley Cup Finals start tonight. I’d love to be watching it but it’s not televised here. Gotta love that. Either the Ottawa Senators or the Anaheim Ducks will win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. It should be a great series. Did I mention I would love to watch it?

The Jazz/Spurs series continues tonight with the Jazz looking to even up the series 2-2. I don’t think they have a chance to win the series so I doubt that I’ll even watch.

Johns Hopkins defeated Duke to win the D-I Lacrosse Championship today. Very disappointing. I’m a fan of Johns Hopkins though so if anyone had to beat Duke, I’m glad it was them. Plus, with all of the drama Duke has had to deal with in the last year, you become forced to respect what they’ve accomplished this season.

I think it’s time to stop procrastinating and finish up my paper for Astronomy.

For the last few days I’ve been pondering what exactly I’m going to feature on this site. Sure, I can just blog how I feel and what’s going on and yadda yadda yadda. But what fun would that be?

I’ve decided that I’m going to attempt to emphasize most of my opinions on sports. Yeah, big surprise right? I figure I can take the headlines and chip in my two cents. Hopefully it will seem like more than the average blog. I have a few other ideas that I might go through with as well. A movie or album review here and there might shake it up and make things interesting. We’ll see.

Sadly, I’ve come to the conclusion that I always need at least three alarm clocks to wake up in the morning. Last night I set my phone for 9:00am. I woke up this morning at around 10:30am. Yep, I hit the snooze button for an hour and a half before realizing what was going on. I never used to be that heavy of a sleeper. What I really need is one of those Clocky Robotic Alarms. They’re the alarm clocks that you can buy that roll away when they go off so that you actually have to get out of bed to catch it. Would I break it in the first few days? Possibly. But at least I would be awake!

Time to go get something to eat and watch the Indy 500. After that I’ll probably head over to Zanesville to Andy’s.

Oh, and in what may be one of the dumbest videos I’ve ever seen…well…you just have to see it to believe it.

After two long months, ChadCallihan.com is FINALLY up and running! It took a little bit longer than the 15 minutes that was predicted, but that doesn’t matter now. I’d like to thank Aaron Hall for all of the work he put in to help get this up and running. Well, I’m going to go tie up some loose ends and make sure everything is working.
