29 of the last 30 points. Are you freakin’ kidding me?! Last night Lebron took over and pretty much singlehandedly won Game 5 for the Cav’s to take a 3-2 series lead over Detroit, 109-107. Finishing with 48 points (setting both Lebron’s and the Cavs’ playoff records), Lebron sent a clear message to those criticizing him for not being able to finish in games. This was arguably the best performance of his young career. My only question is how he will be rested up for Game 6 Saturday as he was visibly exhausted after the game last night.
The Orlando Magic are confirming that Billy Donovan will be leaving Florida to be their new head coach. I’m not sure how to feel about it. As much as Billy Donovan had going for him at Florida, why leave? He had a dynasty already building. As much as I disagree with his decision, I can see reasons why he left. After winning back to back NCAA Championships, what more does he have to prove at the college level? He’s proven that he is an outstanding college coach and now has the opportunity to expand his career. I would like to believe that money had nothing to do with his decision, as a couple more million dollars shouldn’t matter to him. It’s a sad day, but I can’t blame him for it.
The Ducks defeated the Senators 1-0 in Game 2 the other night to take a 2-0 series lead. Defense came up big as the Senators only managed 16 shots on goal. Anaheim looks to be well on their way to the Stanley Cup.
In other hockey news, the Pittsburgh Penguins made Sidney Crosby team Captain, making him the youngest in NHL history ever to wear the “C” on a jersey. At 19 years old, Crosby has been the “Lebron James of hockey. He has lived up the expectations placed on him and has certainly earned the honor.
This morning I took my Astronomy final. Thus, May Term is now officially over for me. I have to admit, part of me is sad to see it end. Astronomy was by far my favorite class in a long time and Dr. Wilson was a great professor. I am hoping for an A in the class and expect it. The final didn’t seem too hard, and considering what my grades were for the rest of the class, I should have it locked.
This weekend should turn out to be a busy one. First, Andy and I are playing basketball tonight after work. After that I’ll try to find something to eat and then Mark and I are going to find something to do. Tomorrow I’ll hopefully go to Zanesville with Tera and go to the mall etc. Either way it should be a great weekend. It’s finally beginning to set in that I don’t have to worry about homework. Ah, such a great feeling.
