May 15

Got up early this morning so that Tera and I could be at church to meet with Pastor Dave at 11.  We mostly went over specifics for the actual wedding ceremony.  I think we were there about an hour so that wasn’t too bad.  The big day is coming up way too fast.

After the meeting Tera went to her mom’s house and I went to my parents to work some on the site and some other things.  I managed to get my Hotmail account synced with Outlook which made my day.  For as long as I can remember, there was a fee to make it work which I chose not to pay.  I checked just for the heck of it tonight and suddenly it was free.  It’s sad when things like that make your day.

Tera and I rented the movie Doubt tonight.   We went to Movie Gallery with no real idea on what we were going to rent.  We both saw it playing on one of the tvs showing trailers and thought it looked good.  It wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great.  The ending was kind of a letdown and sudden but I guess that’s how it was intended.  The movie may be one of those where I need to watch it once more to appreciate it.  It was nominated five Oscars so it has to be amazing, right?

Tera works 8-4 tomorrow so I’ll hopefully start getting some larger things packed and moved.  I have to be sure to watch the season finale of The Office that I missed tonight.  I already know the big shock but I still have to check it out.  I’m sure it will be hilarious.

I managed to keep busy today.  Since imaging my server yesterday didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped, i worked on that most of the day.  I purchased a external hard drive which I’ve needed for awhile.  After hearing positive reviews, I went with a Western Digital 1TB drive (shown to the right).  I was able to move over my existing tablet image as well as successfully image my server and my mom’s computer.  So far it’s working great!

In addition to imaging computers, I did some work on this site as well.  If you notice over to the right, there is a Twitter sidebar.  I figure for the times I don’t update, visiting the site will still give people updates on what I’m up to.  I avoided the Twitter fad for awhile but I think it can be useful so I’m giving it a shot.

Not sure how far I’ll get on my list of things to do tomorrow.  I need to take my keys back to Physical Plant at Muskingum and return a clock to the bookstore.  I hope to either clean or pack stuff here at the apartment in New Concord.  Time to continue watching basketball and relax.

2009 Muskingum graduation 016 It’s been awhile.  Ok, it’s been looooooong time.  Still, not too much has changed.  The sun still rises in the east and sets in  the west.  The grass is still green.  I’m an Alum of Muskingum College.  Wait…that’s a big change!  As of Saturday afternoon, I became part of the “Long Magenta Line.”  Luckily I was able to do it in four years rather than five or more like some people who graduated.  The commencement ceremony only lasted about two hours which was far short of the suspected three and a half.  Following the ceremony it was back to Cambridge to visit with family and friends and eat.  It was a good time.

Being done with college means that without a job I have nothing to do.   I’m going to miss the summer days at CNS but my days there are over.  It’s time to move to something new.  Hopefully, one prospect in particular works out but I don’t feel  as though I should mention it here.

Perhaps the best part of being done with classes is that I can now enjoy the NHL and NBA Playoffs with a clear mind.  The NHL Playoffs have been great while the NBA Playoffs have been somewhat annoying as a result of appalling officiating.  With that said, I can’t say I haven’t been entertained.

I plan to keep this up to date a bit more now but I don’t know how that will turn out.  I’ve said that many times before and failed to deliver.  The only promise I can make is that I will try.

As you hopefully noticed, I did some work making the site look less plain.  I’m pretty satisfied with the results.  The new site definitely seems more easy on the eyes.  Here are my picks for the NFL this week:browns_dunk

Chicago over Minnesota
Pittsburgh over Cincinnati
Tennessee over Kansas City
Dallas over St. Louis
Baltimore over Miami
NYG over San Francisco
New Orleans over Carolina
Houston over Detroit

Picking Cleveland over Washington might not be the smartest choice but I’m hopeful after the Browns win last Monday over the Giants.  This weekend shouldn’t be too busy.  I have some papers to work on but nothing too drastic.  I just hope this weekend feels like it lasts longer than this past weekend.

Oct 16

It’s been a pretty mellow week.  I worked Monday and Tuesday in CNS while everyone else was enjoying Fall Break.  I still managed to get some decent work done so it wasn’t too bad.  I got some grades back today for Holocaust and World Mythology.  Even though they were decent, I still felt very bitter about them.  I got a B on my Holocaust exam and an A- on my World Mythology paper.  At first glance those grades seem great.  Still, there were people who didn’t work nearly as hard as me that did better.  It took me a minute to try and let it go but I can’t.  Always working so hard and not being able to really show it kills me.  It’s usually been that way but at least I only have another semester and a half left.  I’m still finishing up my picks for Week 7 of the NFL season.  I’ll probably post them up tomorrow.

Oct 12

My picks went 8-5 with only remaining game being MNF.  I’m content with that.  Yesterday was a great day to relax and I needed it desperately.  After church, I spent the afternoon watching football and then following the games online.  Around 6 I stopped at Tera’s and then went to her Grandma’s for her brothers birthday party.  It was fun.  I got dragged into painting Tera’s nails and surprisingly didn’t fail.  Her nails turned out much better than the time she wanted me to dye her hair.  We left her Grandma’s and watched a movie.  Today it’s work from 9-5, pick up Tera’s rings, then probably to Cambridge.  I came in early this morning so I could work on my OS project in the labs and managed to get what I couldn’t get to work for hours Saturday to work in about two minutes.  The day is starting out good, I just hope it continues.  Check out the Media Page to see the saddest safety in the history of football.

Games in BOLD represent correct picks thus far:

Yep, it’s been months and months but here I am.  A lot of stuff has gone down since the last update.  I got engaged, started my senior year at Muskingum, etc.  Fun Fun.  Classes this semester have kept me incredibly busy but I’m hoping to try and maintain some decent updates since most other people do.  This one will have to be kept short, but I do want to post my picks for Week 6 of the NFL season.  I’m going to try and keep my picks on here, might keep me from letting my blog go for a few more months lol.  So here they are:NFL_logo-full

31h1hqb48jl_ss500_.jpgI finally made it out to get a new fan the other night.  It is by far the nicest fan I’ve ever had. It features 4 timer settings, 3 speeds, 3 different types of wind (I don’t really understand that part), and of course it oscillates. Part of me wants the temperature to warm back up so I can find out just how good it really is.

Tera and I have really struck out when it has come to movies recently. The first in our string of failure was the movie I Know Who Killed Me. The plot revolves around a girl who is kidnapped and found, but she then thinks she’s somebody else. I won’t ruin it but it’s one of the worst movies I can remember seeing. I would give it an D. Tera actually didn’t hate it so it may be alright for some people. The next dud we came across was Lars and the Real Girl. The movie focused on the main character, Lars, having some serious mental issues and deciding to call a doll his girlfriend. His brother and sister-in-law then attempt to help him until the rest of the town embraces the issue to make Lars more comfortable. Tera hated this movie while I only didn’t like it. I’d probably give it a C-. The last movie, Michael Clayton, had a lot of promise. It seemed painfully boring and didn’t make much sense. We were both tired at the time and were fighting to stay awake so it is possible the movie may have been better if we weren’t falling asleep. Either way, I’d give it a D because it didn’t pull me in at all. I kept asking myself “I don’t know what the ending is going to be and I really don’t care.” Terrible. We turned it around yesterday though by watching The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep. The “Water Horse” was the Loch Ness Monster. The movie followed a boy who discovered the egg of the baby monster and soon became best friends with the hatched creature. It wasn’t anything spectacular but I’d give it a B.

Not too much else has been going on. Andy returns from China next Tuesday night. I complained to him about the 90 degree weather here but he said temperatures had broken 110 for the past few days there. Crazy heat.
